As first steps in creating an ISO 55000-compliant asset management plan, an academic exercise was undertaken by a Perth Region Allice staff member to analyse a sample set of approximately 3,000 known pipe blockages.

This data set was then used in a binary logarithmic regression analysis to assist in the risk of pipe failure prioritization. This information, as well as other significant geographic information system analysis of pipe material, maintenance and operations costs helped to feed an ISO-compliant asset management plan. The output data was compared with either existing or proposed levels of service. Other future considerations for proper asset management of this and other linear assets are presently beginning to take shape within the scope of significant internal system changes under consideration within the Water Corporation.
