We are arranging a slightly different type of meet-up for YAMPs in October and it's on the night before "Big Data. Big Discussion", so if you're from interstate, you're welcome to join.
What: Behind-the-scenes tour of Flinders Street Station Level 3 including ballroom + drinks afterwards at Arbory Bar
When: October 22nd at 4:15pm (for a strictly no later than 4:30pm induction/start)
Where: Flinders Street Station, Melbourne
Cost: Free
Places: 12
A prime example of an asset possessing lots of potential for repurposing, the ballroom has been closed since 1985. Not open to the general public and located on level 3 of Flinders Street Station, we have kindly been offered a behind-the-scenes, one hour tour.
Places for the tour are strictly limited to 12 persons and once the group enters the complex at 4:30pm (sharp), late arrivals can not be accommodated. There is no cost. Please register your interest by commenting on this post below.
Following the tour we'll move to the other side of the Flinders Street Station complex for a few drinks and some food (at your own expense) at the relatively recently opened Arbory Bar. Situated adjacent to Platform 13 and stretching for over 100 metres, it's officially Melbourne's longest bar, an excellent example of asset repurposing (can you see the theme here?) and in my opinion, pretty darn cool!
Places for meeting at the bar are not limited, but it would be good to know who is interested in attending, so please comment below if you would like to come along.
