  • 2019 looking good for Brisbane Chapter

    qldamcThe Brisbane Chapter held a planning session on the 25th October to identify the topics for the technical sessions that will be held in 2019. This session was a lively interactive session with 15 participants. They took a fresh look at the technical sessions, with a view as to what was wanted from the sessions, what specific subjects rewash were of interest and what site visits might appeal to the members.

  • Brisbane hosts the Maintenance & Reliability SIG

    Brisbane 21 Mar 19 2The Brisbane Chapter held a Technical session on the 21st March in conjunction with the Maintenance and Reliability Special interest Group. There were over 60 attendees present to listen to Mr Ian Sedgwick and Mr Ricardo Santos speaking about Dynamic lifecycle costing and Risk Based Inspection regimes respectively. This was followed by a Q and A Panel session which included the speakers and AMC board member, Dr Monique Beedles.

  • Brisbane launches into the topic of Asset Management in Aerospace

    AMc aviationThe recent Brisbane Chapter event held at the Jacobs offices was well supported and the audience were given an insight from Lucien Whitten from Defence Industries Qld into how the policies for aerospace are developed with a particular emphasis on the impact of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. This was supported by Andrew Scott who provided an insight into the operations of UAVs, the size and also complexity of the support operations with the most crucial part of UAVs being the people behind them. There was also an interesting discussion on the current and potential future uses of these assets and how the industry might develop over the next 5-10 years.

  • Brisbane looks at Digital Engineering

    Brisbane 21 March Pic 4 CROPPEDWednesday, March 21st, saw the Brisbane chapter host a technical seminar on the subject of Digital Engineering. A well attended evening seminar saw Ian Hardcastle (Digital Engineering Practice Director from Jacobs) present his observations and thoughts on the evolution of Building Information Modelling (BIM) into DE, and how the value of digital information can be created and also eroded.

  • Brisbane shines a light on the power sector

    image3Wednesday, 16th May, saw the Brisbane chapter host their latest technical session. The theme of the event was asset management within the power sector. The speakers were Ravi Malik from Origin Energy, Brian McMahon from Energy Queensland and Michael Pelevin from Powerlink.

  • Brisbane takes off to tour the airport!

    Plane Spotters AreaA successful site tour to Brisbane airport last Wednesday for the Brisbane Chapter! Thanks to Ken Chapman for facilitating the online register and Mark Jordan for joining the meet-and-greet of the participants, and both their support the entire period of the tour. Also, thanks to Ron Shuttlewood for organising the mini bus and Brisbane Airport community engagement advisor in advance, the transition went effortlessly. Great team work!

  • Brisbane talks Data Use in Asset Management

    Image 4Wednesday 22nd May saw 60 delegates attend the Brisbane Chapter technical session on Data Use in Asset Management. Daniel Osbourne, Graham Heiner and Wayne Holtham provided a wide variety of thoughts and examples on how data can be captured and utilised within organisations to inform decision making, and even discussed how decisions can be made with apparently no data.

In this interactive workshop session, over 50 attendees had the opportunity to look at development of, use and contents of an Asset Management Plan from several perspectives:

    20190717 232341The AMCouncil Brisbane Chapter's Legacy Way field trip was a great experience, with all attendees saying they enjoyed the opportunity to see behind the scenes and experience a real life maintenance shutdown.
