  • NSW Government announces Key Partnership with AMC

    ASA Strategic BreakfastThe NSW Government has announced a key partnership with the Asset Management Council.  At an asset management event last Friday, Tim Reardon, Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, announced that the NSW Government is partnering with the Asset Management Council to support the delivery of the recommendations of the soon-to-be-released 2018 State Infrastructure Strategy.

  • Qld Gov State Infrastructure Plan Program Update

    QLD State InfrastructureThe Queensland Government State Infrastructure Plan (SIP) Part B was released on 23rd July 2019.  The strategy outlines the Queensland Government’s strategic direction for planning and prioritising the investment and delivery of infrastructure that supports growth enables economic development and creates jobs.  Part B outlines a 4 year $49.5billion infrastructure program with a corresponding $12.9billion spend in the 2019-20 year.

    With Newcastle moving rapidly to adopt smart city technologies as part of the urban revitalisation of the city, Federal and State governments are investing in the vision for infrastructure to enable a range of new approaches to asset management and service delivery, which will position the city as a technology development testbed.

    NSW GovernmentThe State Infrastructure Strategy (SIS) is a 20-year infrastructure investment plan for the NSW Government that places strategic fit and economic merit at the centre of investment decisions. The Strategy assesses infrastructure problems and solutions, and provides recommendations to best grow the State's economy, enhance productivity and improve living standards for our NSW community. It is updated every five years, the latest of which is now out and makes good reading. You can view it here.

  • Victorian Local Government Bill 2019

    Last year, in November, the new Local Government Bill was introduced to Parliament. The bill will become law imminently, and will take effect in a progressive motion across 2020, and into 2021.

    The bill is the result of many years of extensive engagement with Victoria’s 79 councils, ratepayers, stakeholders and communties, and seeks to reform and improve the way local government works in the state of Victoria.  With a focus on training for councillors, and strategic planning in the areas of financial management, community vision and good practice guidelines, the introduction of the bill brings in a new era of local governance.
