Fantastic news from NSW as Treasury publishes the NSW Government asset management policy, adopted by the NSW public sector on 31st October. 

The Asset Management Council, led by our director Toby Horstead, has been working closely with Infrastructure NSW and the NSW Government AM Community of Practice to prepare agencies for the release of the policy.

Infrastructure Australia has released its Infrastructure Priority List for 2020, with board chair, Julieanne Alroe, stating it features thirty-seven new proposals. Ms Alroe notes the wide range of sectors covered include water, energy, health, waste and transport.

The Priority List is supported by the evidence raised from the 2019 Infrastructure Audit, and submissions from government departments, industry and the community.

Infrastructure Victoria recently released its report, entitled Recycling and resource recovery infrastructure: Evidence base report.  The report focuses on ways to inform the government on better policies and options for recycling and recovery of waste generated by Victorians.

The Asset Management Council was proud to play a major part in yesterday's meeting of the NSW government village along with Infrastructure NSW. The purpose was to formally launch the new NSW Government endorsed Asset Management Policy. It was also an opportunity to receive an update from the CEO of Infrastructure NSW on the key asset management policy reforms underway in line with the State Infrastructure Strategy 2018-2038.

Dams Safety NSW is an independent regulator established under the Dams Safety Act 2015 and ensures that risks to public safety, the environment and dam assets are at an acceptable level. To achieve this, Dams Safety NSW has implemented its Strategic Plan 2020-2021 that sets the direction of safety guidelines and longer-term strategic outcomes to focus on its vision of safe dams for NSW¹.

The Asset Management Council Perth Chapter facilitated a government focused community of practice with virtually all agencies with large infrastructure asset portfolios represented, as well as the AMCouncil national chair, Dave Daines, and Perth Chapter chair, Dr Carla Boehl. This is the 4th government CoP the Chapter has run in recent years.

Drinking water from Rossarden, a small regional town in Tasmania, has won the prestigious international award of Best Municipal Water 2021.

The Berkley Springs International Water Tasting event is held annually in Virginia, USA. It is the first time the award has gone to drinking water from Australia.

The State Infrastructure Strategy (SIS) is a 20-year infrastructure investment plan for the NSW Government that places strategic fit and economic merit at the centre of investment decisions. The Strategy assesses infrastructure problems and solutions, and provides recommendations to best grow the State's economy, enhance productivity and improve living standards for our NSW community. It is updated every five years, the latest of which is now out and makes good reading. You can view it here.
