  • Brisbane Chapter Session Recap - Where Sustainability meets Reality

    Wednesday 8th June saw the Brisbane Chapter host a hybrid session on Sustainability with attendees participating both in person at the KPMG Brisbane office (thanks, KPMG!) and online from all parts of Australia. The session took on a unique format whereby a panellist of four (Lauren Barnaby, Wendy McPate, Aneurin Hughes and Ken Chapman) provided some examples and suggestions to a CEO of a hypothetical organisation (played by Keith Paintin) as to how sustainability could be implemented within a hypothetical organisation.

  • Brisbane hosts the Maintenance & Reliability SIG

    Brisbane 21 Mar 19 2The Brisbane Chapter held a Technical session on the 21st March in conjunction with the Maintenance and Reliability Special interest Group. There were over 60 attendees present to listen to Mr Ian Sedgwick and Mr Ricardo Santos speaking about Dynamic lifecycle costing and Risk Based Inspection regimes respectively. This was followed by a Q and A Panel session which included the speakers and AMC board member, Dr Monique Beedles.

  • Brisbane launches into the topic of Asset Management in Aerospace

    AMc aviationThe recent Brisbane Chapter event held at the Jacobs offices was well supported and the audience were given an insight from Lucien Whitten from Defence Industries Qld into how the policies for aerospace are developed with a particular emphasis on the impact of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. This was supported by Andrew Scott who provided an insight into the operations of UAVs, the size and also complexity of the support operations with the most crucial part of UAVs being the people behind them. There was also an interesting discussion on the current and potential future uses of these assets and how the industry might develop over the next 5-10 years.

  • Brisbane looks at Digital Engineering

    Brisbane 21 March Pic 4 CROPPEDWednesday, March 21st, saw the Brisbane chapter host a technical seminar on the subject of Digital Engineering. A well attended evening seminar saw Ian Hardcastle (Digital Engineering Practice Director from Jacobs) present his observations and thoughts on the evolution of Building Information Modelling (BIM) into DE, and how the value of digital information can be created and also eroded.

  • Brisbane shines a light on the power sector

    image3Wednesday, 16th May, saw the Brisbane chapter host their latest technical session. The theme of the event was asset management within the power sector. The speakers were Ravi Malik from Origin Energy, Brian McMahon from Energy Queensland and Michael Pelevin from Powerlink.

  • Brisbane talks Data Use in Asset Management

    Image 4Wednesday 22nd May saw 60 delegates attend the Brisbane Chapter technical session on Data Use in Asset Management. Daniel Osbourne, Graham Heiner and Wayne Holtham provided a wide variety of thoughts and examples on how data can be captured and utilised within organisations to inform decision making, and even discussed how decisions can be made with apparently no data.

  • Gippsland Workshops Asset Management

    Welcome address by Dr. Gopi ChattopadhyayAn Asset Management Workshop in Gippsland was organised by the School of Science, Engineering and Information Technology’s Resources Engineering and Technology Group and supported by the Gippsland Chapter of the Asset Management Council and Engineering Network of local Engineers Australia Group on Thursday 28 June from 10.00am to 5pm.

    This workshop was another of its revered Corporate Education Workshop and Seminars attended by more than 35 delegates from industry, professional bodies and FedUni and feedback received from delegates was outstanding. This was the fifth event held in the past 3 years, which has seen close to 250 delegates attend Gippsland events.

  • How Infrastructure NSW is Meeting the Challenge

    sydney4Many thanks on behalf of the Asset Management Council and our Sydney Chapter Committee to Rami Affan, Infrastrcuture NSW, for his excellent presentation on Wednesday night at Sydney Water's head office in Parramatta.

    The large audience clearly appreciated learning about Infrastructure NSW's State Infrastructure Strategy through the lens of asset management and the inclusive and collaborative deployment strategy (via such avenues as the AM Community of Practice and Asset Management Maturity Assessments both run jointly with the AMCouncil).

  • Intelligent Asset Management in Newcastle

    Newcastle 2A great presentation on Tuesday night at the Rydges delivered by Sean Reeves our Chair of the Newcastle Chapter. It was a particularly enlightening talk that portrayed asset management as it truly is, a considered collection of data and information and the path to transformation into a genuine asset management plan, confidently protecting and utilising assets.  Sean provided a very useable outline capturing the big picture.

    Numerous questions were asked, and very valuable discussions ensued which followed well into refreshments time. It was great to see new connections and networks being formed.
