Canberra’s Engineering House hosted a packed audience on Thursday evening 24^th May, where the Canberra Chapter of the AMC held a joint presentation with the Electric Energy Society of Australia to discuss the future of Australia’s Electricity Supply as laid out in the Finkel Plan.

The Melbourne chapter held a session at Engineers Australia’s city facilities, focused on the evolution of asset management in defence. John West, Asset Management Principal at BAE Systems, talked about linkages between defence capability and asset management, drawing on examples from the maritime defence sector. The enthusiastic audience included AMC members from government, defence and consulting.

The Asset Management Council was proud to play a major part in yesterday's meeting of the NSW government village along with Infrastructure NSW. The purpose was to formally launch the new NSW Government endorsed Asset Management Policy. It was also an opportunity to receive an update from the CEO of Infrastructure NSW on the key asset management policy reforms underway in line with the State Infrastructure Strategy 2018-2038.

An Overview of ISO 55012

Following the Asset Management Accountability Framework Audit Report that was presented to Parliament on 23^rd May 2019, our Melbourne AMCouncil chapter got together over breakfast to hear from Catherine Sandercock, Manager Performance Audit, Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, who spoke about the audit findings and recommendations.

The Melbourne Chapter has had a great start to the year with over 30 keen AMCouncil members and associates who got together late February to discuss challenges in transforming culture and behaviour in asset centric organisations. A discussion was had led by Greg Williams, Executive, Executive Director Asset Performance, Yarra Trams, and Julian Watts, Director Engineering & Asset Management, KPMG.

Martin Kerr is the AMCouncil representative for all things to do with ISO550xx and is the current convener of Working Group 6 which is overseeing the review of ISO55001 in conjunction with ISO55000. Join Martin on Wednesday 23rd February at 1pm AEDT for an update on the work of ISO/TC251 during this interactive online webinar. Two existing standards (ISO55000 and ISO55001) are currently being reviewed and are at committee draft (CD1) stage. Martin will provide an update of potential changes and seek your high-level feedback during the presentation.

NZ members and their guests from as far as the University of Notre Dame attended the AMC NZ Chapter event last Monday. As well as a soft launch to officially open the chapter, the topic of the evening was asset resilience where Dr. Kevin Walsh shared some of his learnings from the US, and Dr. Temitope Egbelakin presented a current case study of a NZ local authority.     

The Asset Management Council New Zealand Chapter second annual symposium brings representatives from diverse industries together to share asset management experiences, knowledge and challenges and provides a forum for networking and information sharing.
