SUMMARY:Webinar - A technical overview on AUKUS from an Asset management perspective
DESCRIPTION:The SSN-AUKUS is a planned class of nuclear-powered fleet submarine intended to enter service with the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy in the late 2030s and Royal Australian Navy in the 2040s. The class will replace the UK’s Astute class and Australia’s Collins class submarines. \nThis presentation will provide a technical overview on AUKUS and nuclear-powered submarines from an Asset management perspective on one of the world’s most complex asset. \n  \nClick here to register\n  \nAbout the speaker:  \nChris Saint\, Domain Engineering Manager (Submarines and Nuclear)\, Babcock Australasia \nChris Saint is Babcock Australasia’s Domain Engineering Manager for submarines and nuclear. He is tasked with capability management and development in preparation for AUKUS\, in particular planning ahead of the nation’s new nuclear-powered submarines. Over the past 10 years\, Chris has held several positions at Babcock\, including the Naval Nuclear Head of Engineering Capability and Technical Services Alliance in Devonport\, UK. He has also worked as a Safety Case Engineer and Naval Base Project Engineer. Chris began his career in the Royal Navy\, where he worked in various engineering roles. Chris holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical and Manufacturing) from the University of Portsmouth. \n

SUMMARY:Sydney - Asset management and the electrification of assets
DESCRIPTION:Australia is in the middle of an energy revolution.  Energy sources are shifting to renewables\, from the bulk end of the supply chain to people’s home solar systems.  The needs of energy stakeholders\, the technology available to Ausgrid and our customers and governmental policy settings also evolving rapidly as a result.  The presentation will discuss these changes and their implications\, in the context of asset management during the electrification of assets.  Observations will be offered from the perspective of the Capability Delivery Model in terms of stakeholder needs\, business objectives\, systems engineering\, acquisition\, operations & maintenance\, configuration management and continuous improvement. \nClick here to register\n  \nAbout the speaker:\nMatthew Webb\, Head of Asset Investment\, Ausgrid\nMatt has over 30 years experience in managing all aspects of using power systems to meet customers’ electricity needs\, including network planning\, asset management\, regulation and field management. \nAs Head of Asset Investment\, Matt is responsible for Ausgrid’s long-term electricity network investment needs and opportunities in a rapidly changing operating environment.  This includes applying asset management and other techniques to: \n\nUnderstand changing customer priorities and how Ausgrid will adapt services to meet customer needs and adoption of new technologies.\nTransform network services through innovation and new capabilities needed to manage complex network power flows and deliver efficient renewables hosting capacity.\nUnlock value of customer DER assets and load flexibility to achieve a reduced overall energy cost for customers and improved network utilisation.\nReady the network to enable the needs of our customers and stakeholders safely\, efficiently and equitably\, to facilitate a net zero future.\n\nMatt is an Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Wollongong\, as well as being Ausgrid’s senior representative and a member of the Research Advisory Committee (ReAC) to the RACE for 2030\, a national industry led cooperative research centre. \n

Learnings to be shared on approach taken\, integration of multiple platforms and benefits. \nClimate Action: Establishing a Sustainable and Net Zero Future for Transport (Steve Beyer\, Director Portfolio Strategic Projects Office\, Government of WA\, Department of Transport) \nThe Department of Transport is leading the development of the Transport Sector Emissions Reduction Strategy\, as part of a suite of emissions reduction strategies for Western Australia’s economy. These are focussed on achieving the Government’s commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050\, and informing an interim 2035 target and initiatives to drive that change. Anthony has held a variety of positions that has been responsible for large fleet maintenance\, work management and an operational fleet monitoring department. \nAnthony’s role as the National Asset Manager for Qube Bulk covers the key areas of Fleet Procurement and Design\, Materials supplier management\, Support Systems and processes\, standardisation of Whole of Life Cycle Cost management whilst looking for improvement initiatives through systems or technology based solutions. He has worked across a Heavy Haul\, Cranes and Fixed Plant asset base. \nCraig Symons\, Asset & Systems Superintendent\, QUBE Bulk \nCraig is an experienced asset management specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the mining industry.  He is skilled in budgeting\, mining\, minerals\, continuous improvement\, and plant maintenance.  He is a strong consulting professional with good communication skills across all levels of organisations. \nIn his current role\, Craig is responsible for the promotion of work management practises through efficient solutions that optimise the time required by sites to complete the various activities. This is achieved through an understanding of system capability and defining the processes which site personnel can consistently work with or report through. \nSteve Beyer\, Director Portfolio Strategic Projects Office\, Government of Western Australia\, Department of Transport \nSteve Beyer has worked in WA Government transport agencies for over 40 years. He leads the WA Transport Portfolio’s work on climate action\, dealing with climate risk and adaptation\, and emissions reduction for the Portfolio’s activities and for the wider transport sector.
