SUMMARY:Gippsland (Hybrid Event) - Asset Management Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Asset Management Council Australia\, the Engineers Australia Gippsland Committee\, and the Centre for Smart Analytics at Federation University present:  \nAsset Management Workshop \nThursday 6 April | 4pm – 5pm AEST \nhybrid event (dial in online or attend in person at one of two Federation University satellite hubs) \nThis event is free for all guests \nClick here to register \nThis will be a hybrid event\, with option for those to dial in remotely OR to attend in person at one of the following satellite hubs: \n\nRoom Y243 Y Building Mt Helen campus Federation University\nRoom 2W263 Churchill campus Federation University (streamed)\n\nTopics and speakers include: \nMaintenance and Asset Management of Industrial Assets: Emerging Trends in Tribological Practices \nProfessor Raghuvir Pai\, President – Asset Management Society of India & Professor of Mechanical Engineering Manipal Academy of Higher Education \nThe tribological behaviour of rotating and sliding parts in industrial assets plays a decisive role in influencing the life of these parts. Understanding the tribological aspects and behaviour of machine components by maintenance professionals is important to improve performance and productivity. A knowledge of tribological principles helps in developing and applying these tools and techniques necessary for effective maintenance. \nA significant impact on maintenance and asset management has been made in recent years by machine learning\, data analytics\, artificial intelligence\, Remote Performance Monitoring and Internet of Things. In this study\, the tribological aspects related to maintenance\, reliability and asset management are analysed. The outcomes of this study are beneficial to engineers and managers in order to recognise and realize the relationship between tribology\, maintenance and reliability for better asset management. \n \nReliability in Cold Rolling Mills – Hydraulic Group Control \nKevin Naidoo\, Reliability Improvement Leader\, Bluescope Steel \nIn this talk Kevin will discuss \n\nthe importance of correctly setting pressure relief valves in hydraulic circuits\,\nthe failure modes associated with plant; \nand the costs associated with failures.\n\nKevin will use a real case from the Australian Steel Industry in the presentation. He is Maintenance Team Leader & Reliability Improvement Leader and has 25 years of heavy\, medium\, and light industry experience on fixed and rotating plant track record of cross collaborative teamwork between departments within organisation to ensure continuous improvement of plant and assets.
