DESCRIPTION:Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been around for a long time and is now becoming commonplace\, and often a requirement\, on many building and infrastructure projects. The key component of BIM is the information element\, and when properly adopted it provides the backbone for efficiently managing data from the early conception of the asset being built through to operations and handover. \nHowever\, this can only be achieved with data that is well-defined early and the use of open standards\, or OpenBIM. A recognised leader and influencer\, regularly called on to speak at resources and engineering events. \nChristopher Bridge\, A/Principal Asset Information & Strategy\, Seqwater. Christopher is an Asset Management Leader with 20 years ‘ of experience across the UK and Australia. Around 15 years of this have been directly employed at water utility organisations. Christopher currently leads the Asset Information and Strategy function at Seqwater\, a team which oversees the details of over 45\,000 operational assets. Christopher is also a project team member on Seqwater’s Digital Engineering Roadmap project which aims to enable the utility to make significant strides in its digital assert management capability. Christopher believes in empowering his teams and those around him to make better asset management decisions. A big part of this is about allowing inclusive leadership and getting the appropriate level of buy-in to team targets and priorities. Chris is keen for those his leads to be positive about their strengths and open about opportunities for improvement. Christopher holds a PhD in drinking water quality management obtained from the University of Birmingham\, UK\, as well as a first class honours degree in Geology. Chris is Chartered Member of the Institution of Water and Environment (UK) and holds a Certificate from the Institute of Asset Management (UK). Christopher has worked with clients down the east-coast of Australia in Senior Asset Management Consultancy roles – most recently as Tactical Asset Management Lead in the Asset Strategies function at Stantec. Project delivery highlights include development of the first source protection natural asset management plans at Seqwater\, leading condition assessment and investment program development for several local councils. Christopher’s industry experience also led to him becoming a key team member in auditing activities for the Essential Services Commission of South Australia and the Department of Environment\, Land\, Water and Planning (Victoria). Christopher is based on the Sunshine Coast and loves to spend time in the local areas which he describes as one of the best places to live in the world – so long as you don’t need to do anything after 9pm!

He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of multiple institutions. \n  \nLeigh Fleming  is the Acting Head of Engineering at the School of Computing and Engineering\, Huddersfield University\, UK. With a PhD in 3D analysis of hip replacements\, her research focuses on metrology for skin interfaces and assistive technologies for health. She collaborates on SMART home health systems linked to asset management and teaches materials\, thermofluids\, and research methods. Leigh is passionate about EDI and social mobility in higher education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

This project has expanded over the years to include the adjacent Toitoi Municipal Building\, culminating in a comprehensive Asset Information Model (AIM) of both buildings. \nA key development has been the integration of climate change data within the asset information model to enhance building resilience. This initiative demonstrates the potential of digital technologies\, and particularly Asset Information Models\, in fostering climate-resilient urban infrastructure. \nKey Points: \n\nObjective: To illustrate the integration process and benefits of including digital climate change data into an asset information model.\nMethodology: Overview of the process\, how we discussed strategic climate priorities and challenges for HDC\, how these informed the next steps\, and how this was used to inform the Asset Information Model.\nChallenges and Solutions: Discussion on merging climate data with the existing asset information model and how we navigated them.\nOutcomes and Benefits: Adding value to enhance asset resilience\, improve risk assessment\, and support informed decision-making for climate adaptation strategies through digitisation.\n\nThis presentation aims to showcase the project’s approach to leveraging an existing asset information model to assist in understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change on critical infrastructure. \nJason Blac\, Senior Consultant – Strategic Advisory (Digital)\, WSP \nWith over a decade of experience in Project Management and Digital Advisory from the UK and the burgeoning digital sector in New Zealand\, Jason harbours a deep passion for supporting and guiding clients on their transformation journeys. He served as the Project Manager for the award-winning projects at Auckland International Airport (AIA)\, Auckland District Health Board (ADHB)\, and Hastings District Council (HDC) – specifically\, their Digital Twin initiatives. These projects entailed developing client workshops\, crafting strategic roadmaps\, leveraging emerging technologies\, and fostering partnerships across multiple teams. A significant focus of Jason’s current and past roles has been on project governance and reporting\, ensuring transparency\, accountability\, and efficiency in leading successful\, multi-talented teams. He brings an in-depth understanding of designing and implementing outcome-focused strategies to this project. \nDr Rowan Dixon\, Associate Director – Strategic Advisory\, WSP \nDr. Rowan Dixon heads the climate and futures insights advisory at WSP NZ. His extensive training and experience across both government and private sectors have honed his expertise in scrutinizing climate and sustainability policy and practice in Aotearoa and with its international partners. Rowan is dedicated to assisting decision-makers throughout Aotearoa in navigating\, enhancing\, and realizing their infrastructure ambitions. He holds a PhD in Political Economic Geography and a Master’s in Planning. Throughout his career\, Rowan has occupied pivotal roles in the built environment\, climate\, and commercial sectors\, including positions at the Ministry for the Environment\, Dunedin City Council\, and Fairtrade ANZ. \nPresentation 2: Cracking the Transport System: A National Future-Ready Approach to Consistent Condition Data Collection\nConsistent condition data is increasingly important in the New Zealand transport sector’s approach to lifecycle asset management\, benchmarking\, performance management\, and investment decision-making. Te Ringa Maimoa is leading the implementation of a consistent approach to the collection of pavement and surfacing condition data for all local authority sealed roads. The Consistent Condition Data Collection (CCDC) project is being developed collaboratively by sector representatives from councils and Waka Kotahi\, supported by industry subject matter experts. This presentation will focus on how a new Centre of Excellence will collaboratively co-manage the national delivery of the pavement condition data collection programme for the state highway and local road networks from July 2024. \nShaun Lion-Cachet\, Principal Consultant\, Invise Ltd \nShaun Lion-Cachet is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience in leadership\, engineering\, asset management\, project management\, and staff management across both the public and private sectors. His technical skills encompass transport infrastructure planning and engineering. His most recent role was as RATA Manager at Co-Lab (Waikato Local Authority Shared Services)\, providing shared transport asset management services to ten Waikato councils. This role involved offering strategy\, guidance\, and engineering services in complex and diverse operating environments across those ten organisations. Shaun is currently a Principal Consultant at Invise Limited\, providing advisory services to address challenges for NZ infrastructure owners. A current project includes the Consistent Condition Data Collection (CCDC) project for NZTA\, where his key tasks involve the establishment and management of two new data collection contracts. \n  \n

He holds a Ph.D. with Honors in Industrial Engineering\, is listed in the Stanford University’s list of world top-scientists in 2022 and received the Spanish Maintenance Award\nfrom the Spanish Maintenance Association (AEM) in 2020. His research works have been published in many international journals and books focusing on his expertise in maintenance\, warranty\, supply chain and assets management. \nProfessor Crespo is a Fellow and Director of ISEAM (International Society of Engineering Assets Management)\, Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Book Series Engineering and Asset Management Review\, and leads the Spanish Research Network on Assets Management and the Spanish Committee for Maintenance Standardization. \nHe also leads the SIM (Sistemas Inteligentes de Mantenimiento) research group related to maintenance and dependability management and has extensively participated in many engineering and consulting projects for different companies\, for the Spanish Departments of Defence\, Science and Education as well as for the European Commission (IPTS). DESCRIPTION:Data is increasingly being recognized as a valuable commodity that supports an increasing variety of business functions. However\, while it has become well recognized that good management of our ‘hard’ infrastructure benefits from the application of asset management principles\, the concept of data (in all its many varieties) as an infrastructure asset to be managed is still developing. \nIn this webinar\, we explore the nature of data as an infrastructure asset\, and how traditional asset management concepts such as value\, level-of-service and expected life can be adapted to this novel asset class. Additionally\, we discuss the distinction between management of data storage (which can be considered tangible) from management of the underlying\, intangible\, data itself. \n  \nClick here to register\n  \nAbout the speakers:  \nRobert Radovanovic is an Adjunct Associate Professor with the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. His specialization includes leveraging spatial data from sources such as laser scanners\, unmanned aerial vehicles and embedded sensors to develop infrastructure asset inventories\, monitor performance and assess risk resiliency. Robert is heavily involved in developing curriculum for students in the fundamentals of asset management\, and how it ties into long-term sustainable outcomes for communities. \nTanya Hegmann is a recent graduate of the Masters of Engineering program at the University of Calgary and a registered Engineer-In-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. Her specialization is in the field of Geographic Information Systems\, and she was an inaugural participant in the Asset Management for Sustainable Infrastructure course series developed at the University of Calgary. Her research work has focused in the application of asset management principles to datasets holdings\, with a goal of improving the consistent valuation of an intangible asset class.

She has nearly 30 years of experience as a lawyer including 20 years managing legal claims against professionals. Since 2017\, Simone’s practice has focused on cyber risk and she has provided expert evidence in Supreme Court proceedings related to email-enabled fraud. Her other areas of legal practice include insurance\, professional liability and ethics\, dispute resolution\, and privacy. \nBefore establishing Law & Cyber\, Simone was Manager\, Strategy & Innovation and the Senior Claims Solicitor at Lawcover\, the professional indemnity insurer for NSW law practices\, where she handled more than 2\,000 professional indemnity notifications against law firms. Between 2016 and 2018 Simone led Lawcover’s innovative response to cyber risk and the launch of its cyber risk policy. She was the principal author of the company’s cyber risk publications and sat on the company’s cyber risk committee. \nSimone has an MBA (Executive) from AGSM\, a Master of Law & Management from AGSM/UNSW Law\, and bachelor’s degrees in Law and Arts from UNSW.
