SUMMARY:Webinar - Data to decision making
DESCRIPTION:There is a common theme building around ensuring we have a clear line of sight from data to decision making. \nThe idea is that any data we collect needs to align with the core value drivers for the organisation and the associated decision points. Each presentation will speak to this concept from a different perspective. \nPresentations:\nExecutive Engagement\nIan Aldridge\nHow to bring executives along the journey\, showing how data drives their decision making. \nLeveraging asset portfolio data for integrated maintenance investment modelling \n\n How do you turn millions of asset data records into confident maintenance decisions? Main Roads Western Australia manages a diverse infrastructure portfolio spanning roads\, bridges\, electrical assets\, intelligent transport systems and associated infrastructure across one of the largest geographically spread road networks in the world. This presentation explores the critical role of data quality\, completeness and timeliness in building a reliable long-term maintenance investment model. It shares the journey of transforming disparate data sources into asset-class-specific models that collectively provide a portfolio-wide view of future maintenance needs. The result is an integrated decision-support capability that translates complex asset information into practical\, evidence-based insights for long-term maintenance planning and investments.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lalinda Karunaratne leads the asset management modelling and analytics function at Main Roads Western Australia\, with a multi-disciplinary team spanning modelling\, analytics and geospatial intelligence to strengthen evidence-based maintenance planning and investment decision-making. With over 15 years’ experience across engineering\, consulting and government\, Lalinda specialises in asset lifecycle modelling\, data governance and communicating complex technical data to support strategic decision-making. Lalinda is a Chartered Engineer (CPEng)\, Certified Practitioner in Asset Management (CPAM)\, and a Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA)\, with postgraduate qualifications in infrastructure asset management and pavement engineering.\n \n \n \nData to Dollars: Data from the Executive’s Viewpoint \n\n Executives do not experience data as rows\, tags\, dashboards\, or reports. They experience data as confidence\, risk\, timing\, trade-offs\, accountability\, and enterprise value. This 15-minute executive overview introduces Data to Dollars: a practical framework for converting operational evidence into better decisions\, better actions\, and measurable outcomes across financial performance\, safety\, environmental stewardship\, service reliability\, and license to operate. The session also reframes data sustainability. Data are sustainable when they are anchored to gaming-resistant KPIs that signal the value being sought — as leading or lagging indicators. When the KPI is meaningful\, the data required to support it become durable\, governed\, and decision-relevant. The message is simple: data are the difference between deciding and guessing. The executive challenge is to create a clear line of sight from operational evidence to enterprise value.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Drew Troyer is an asset management\, reliability\, and sustainable manufacturing executive with more than 35 years of industrial experience. A former senior asset management leader with Rio Tinto and Anglo American\, he is now Executive Principal – Asset Management & Sustainable Manufacturing with Bootleg Advisors. He has authored more than 450 publications and is the founder and editor of Reliable Magazine. Drew holds an MBA from Oklahoma City University and a master’s degree in sustainability from Harvard University. His work helps executives connect operational evidence\, risk\, and decision architecture to measurable enterprise value.\n \n \n \nClick here to register
