The recommencement of critical infrastructure in Queensland sends a powerful signal to the state’s residents of its recovery phase, following on from COVID-19. Powerlink’s decision to recommence the $67 million works across three key projects will support the creation of around 150 jobs1.
The projects are:
- Replacing ageing primary plant and secondary systems at Nebo substation
- Upgrades to Calvale Substation and network reconfiguration
- Upgrades to 150km transmission line between Gin Gin and Woolooga2
In addition to job creation and a stride into the recovery phase for the state, these important works highlight Powerlink’s strategic asset management plan, its overarching business objectives and the underpinning element of any asset management plan—a commitment to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Powerlink state its asset management plan includes:
- asset inspections
- works planning and scheduling
- condition monitoring, analysis, and assessment
- root cause investigation
- major plant failure
- field testing3
