AMCouncil Sydney Chapter's first event of the year was held 17 March 2021. The online event had over 100 registrations and was hosted by Women in Asset Management. David Spiteri - incoming Chair of the Sydney Chapter committee - gave an insight into upcoming events for Sydney Chapter and the opportunities for involvement from supporters and members over the year.
Lucie Mitchell - Head of Asset Management for Essential Energy and the National and Lead of Women in Asset Management for the Asset Management Council - then facilitated the rest of the event.
We were joined by key note speaker of the night, Beck Dawson - Chief Resilience Officer NSW - who provided a captivating presentation on the implementation of the first Resilient Sydney Strategy, an urban resilience roadmap for metropolitan Sydney. The strategy identifies local responses to global and city system challenges from shocks and stresses. Beck stressed the importance of resilience and place based views taking into consideration of risk which is timely in our current city challenges. The take away message for the asset management practitioners was to really think about how we plan, design and build for city needs and of course resilience. The audience then had some really thought provoking questions and we thank Beck for her insightful responses.
