On Thursday 16th September night, the Sydney Chapter Asset Management Council ran their inaugural young asset management practitioners session. The session was facilitated by Myles Gatherer, Metro Trains Sydney, and covered the key themes of Implementing AM & Shifting AM Culture.

Speakers included Nick Batchelor, Graduate Engineer Strategic Asset Management, WSP who gave an overview of working as an asset management consultant across a range of industries such as Health, Telecommunications and the Performing Arts. Nick discussed the successful implementation of asset management for various clients and benefits that have eventuated through reducing costs and risks for organisations.

The second speaker was Katrina Farah, Senior Manager Asset Management ServicesTransport for NSW who provided insights on the journey of asset management within Transport asset portfolio across all modes includes buses, rail, ferries and roads. Katrina covered the significant efforts of the transport team in implementing a step change across service providers in aligning to the INSW AM policy and the value this has brought across the cluster. Both speakers provided incredible insights from a public and private perspective and were a refreshing end to the week.
