VentsShortly before Easter, Victorian-based manufacturing company, Grey Innovation, was awarded a $31 million agreement with the Australian government to produce 2000 invasive ventilators.

Grey Innovation will lead the project, working alongside other manufacturing and engineering firms, each showing a collaborative spirit within Australia’s advanced technical and engineering capability.

The notas Emergency Invasive Ventilator Program will leverage the expertise of thirty industry leaders to produce the ventilators. The turn-around time for the ventilators’ arrival on the market will necessitate utilising a certified mechanical ventilator design from a company in Victoria already under licence for production1.

Victorian hospitals currently have around 10002 ventilators, leaving the health system poorly placed to give necessary aid to patients who contract COVID-19. These life-saving machines will help underpin the fantastic work that health professionals are performing to keep Victorians safe during these challenging times.
