Webinar – United Nations Managing Infrastructure Assets for Sustainable Development

To support sustainability within infrastructure projects, and contribute to nations’ wealth, the United Nations’ Department of Social and Economic Affairs published the “Handbook on Managing Infrastructure Assets for Sustainable Development”. They have provided in-depth training to developing nations. The principles in the Handbook apply to all infrastructure projects that aim to deliver value and include sustainability in their mission. The speakers will present on the core issues in the Handbook and describe how nations have gained benefits and value. The presentation will be followed by a Discussion Panel with Daniel Platz, Linda Newton, Sally Nugent, Peter Kohler, and Mike Bordenaro to answer your questions!

About the speakers:

Daniel Platz, PhD, United Nations, Senior Economic Affairs Officer, Department of Social and Economic Affairs guided the creation of the UN’s Managing Infrastructure Assets for Sustainable Development: A Handbook for Local and National Governments. Mr. Platz works in the UN Secretariat Office in New York City and has dual citizenship in the U.S. and Germany. He has worked at the United Nations for more than 20 years and has his PhD in Economics. Mr. Platz plays a pivotal role in raising the awareness of global asset management principles and culture.

Linda Watson was a key contributor to the Handbook and has worked with Mr. Platz to provide training based on it around the world. Ms. Watson has a Masters in Engineering and a PhD in Civil Engineering. She is based in Ottawa, Canada, and was with Defence Construction Canada for more than 10 years. She taught civil and environment engineering at Carlton University for more than 17 years and has her own engineering consulting company.
