The Melbourne Chapter is holding a technical session on Thursday 14 July 2011
Presenters:
Sally Nugent, CEO, Asset Management Council
Sally will present an update on recent developments within the AM Council, including the evolving Asset Management Book of Knowledge (AMBoK).
Greg Williams, Melbourne Chapter Chair
Greg will present a thought provoking paper on risk management frameworks for Asset Information systems.
Infrastructure related businesses invest heavily in Asset Information systems to help manage their assets and improve their overall performance. The necessity for good asset information is growing rather than reducing, and Asset Information system requirements are becoming more sophisticated. The number of stakeholders and the complexity of collating and sharing information also appear to be increasing. Some of the drivers for better management of asset information include changing regulation, private finance initiatives to fund major capital programs, and a greater collective understanding of asset management risk. Greg contends that the information and systems necessary to manage physical assets have real value to a business as foundation systems, and as asset managers we must address information risks in the same risk-based approach we take to the physical assets.
