Infrastructure NSW, on behalf of the NSW Government, has unveiled the NSW Infrastructure Digitalisation and Data Policy, designed to boost efficiency and innovation across the infrastructure sector by expediting the adoption of digital practices and technology in public infrastructure delivery and asset management.

Developed in collaboration with industry experts and government agencies, the policy responds to challenges such as stagnant productivity and rising costs. It sets out a framework to improve performance across the entire infrastructure lifecycle through digitalisation—from planning and design to construction and ongoing maintenance.

The Policy is built around 4 core principles and 13 targeted actions the State’s infrastructure agencies must implement to accelerate the adoption of digital practices, systems, and technologies throughout the built infrastructure lifecycle.

Through Policy implementation agencies will establish critical foundations for infrastructure digitalisation including a ‘digital thread’ of seamless, reliable and interoperable infrastructure data by applying robust data management practices.

The Policy marks a significant step toward a smarter, more efficient and connected future for NSW’s built environment.

Resources designed to boost and support the implementation of the policy will be made available/are available here.
