The Asset Management Council’s Perth Chapter was pleased to welcome corporate member representatives to a special technical breakfast, bringing together leaders from across the asset management community to reflect on 2025 and look ahead to the opportunities and challenges of 2026. Over a light breakfast, attendees heard updates on the Asset Management Council’s achievements, explored emerging strategic themes, and engaged in thoughtful discussion on asset management in some of the most complex environments in the world.
Perth Chapter Chair Adam Rotapel opened the session with a warm welcome and an overview of the Chapter’s activities and achievements throughout 2025. Adam highlighted the strength of the local corporate member community, the growth in engagement across technical events, and the ongoing focus on building asset management capability and collaboration across sectors in Western Australia.
This was followed by an insightful national and international update from Asset Management Council Board Director Dr Yvonne Power, who outlined the Council’s major achievements in 2025 and the strategic themes and objectives guiding the work program for 2026. Dr Power spoke about the AMCouncil’s role in lifting asset management maturity, strengthening partnerships, and supporting practitioners to respond to productivity, resilience and sustainability challenges in an increasingly complex operating environment.
The morning concluded with a powerful case study, Asset Management in Conflict Zones, presented by Perth Chapter Committee Member Dale Whelan. Drawing on the example of asset management in Ukraine, Dale explored how organisations continue to manage critical infrastructure under conditions of severe disruption and uncertainty. The session prompted a rich, facilitated discussion on the lessons for Australian organisations, including the importance of preparedness, prioritisation, robust decision-making frameworks and strong stakeholder relationships when operating in challenging or rapidly changing contexts.
Thank you to our speakers Adam Rotapel, Dr Yvonne Power and Dale Whelan, and to all the corporate member representatives who joined us for this engaging and thought-provoking breakfast. We look forward to continuing the conversation as we work together to deliver better outcomes through asset management in 2026 and beyond.
