Theme: Maintain Today – Sustain Tomorrow
Held Thursday 6 June | Presented by MRiAM & AMCouncil Melbourne Chapter

On 6 June, we gathered bright and early for a breakfast event in celebration of Global Maintenance Day, hosted by the Asset Management Council and its Maintenance & Reliability in Asset Management (MRiAM) special interest group. Themed Maintain Today – Sustain Tomorrow, the event brought together professionals from across sectors to recognise the strategic importance of maintenance in delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable services.

The highlight of the morning was a panel discussion featuring three leaders in the field:

  • Sarah Hannah (AusNet Services, AMCouncil Director)
  • Martin Boettcher (Ventia)
  • Andrew Sarah (Rail sector expert)

They shared powerful insights into how maintenance is evolving—from a back-end necessity to a front-line strategy for enabling resilience, efficiency, and long-term value. From hot water systems to complex rail infrastructure, the message was clear: proactive maintenance is key to sustainability.

Photos from the day captured not just a delicious breakfast (and a few tap-related jokes!) but also the energy of a room full of professionals passionate about keeping systems running smoothly and safely.

Thanks to all who attended and contributed to this engaging event—and a special thanks to our speakers for their thoughtful reflections.

Let’s continue to recognise the value of those who maintain today so we can all thrive tomorrow.
