Webinar – The Role of Asset Management in the Mitigation of Fraud and Corruption (Part 2 of 2: How to Mitigate Fraud and Corruption)

19 June @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am

FREE FOR ALL

A 2-part exploration of fraud, waste, and abuse! With the active support of the Asset Management community, the “Value and Benefits from Asset Management” team has produced over 25 asset management success stories, over the past four years. These stories have come from both commercial and government entities in Australia, NZ and the US.

In this two-part series (part one: 5 June; part two: 19 June), we explore a powerful, often unspoken outcome that asset management can provide – detection of fraud, waste, and abuse.

This webinar is Part 2 of a two-part series dealing with the uncomfortable reality of identifying, exposing and mitigating the risk of Fraud and Corruption.

Arguably – many asset management improvement activities will encounter such issues.

While the specifics of such activities will not be discussed by the speakers, how might/should any organisation mitigate the risk of Fraud and Corruption?  Specifically, how can Asset Management help?

Today’s program includes presentations from:

  • John Hardwick – Executive Director, Asset Management, New South Wales Transport reflecting upon his government experience and the recent documentation of ways to address fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption.

  • Michelle Sager, Managing Director, Strategic Issues, U.S. Government Accountability Office presenting selected sections of the GAO 25-107743 2025 High Risk Report available at this link. While the extensive report addresses multiple issues, Ms. Sager will provide an overview and how different Congresses respond to discovered incidents.

Nick Philips will facilitate an important discussion among the speakers and the Q&A session audience.  The aim of this discussion is to understand how asset management can assist organisations mitigate the risk of Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Corruption.
