Last night, the AMCouncil Sydney Chapter hosted an engaging technical session on Digital Twins for Electricity Network Asset Management, with members and guests gathering at Ausgrid’s offices.

We extend our thanks to Sydney Chapter Committee Secretary Stephen Poropat for arranging this event, and to Ausgrid for generously hosting and providing such insightful speakers.

Presenters Alex Watters (Manager Asset Insights, Ausgrid) and Stephanie Forsmann (ND Program Development Manager, Ausgrid) explored how digital twin technology is transforming the way electricity network assets are managed, monitored, and maintained. They demonstrated how virtual replicas of physical assets, combined with advanced analytics and machine learning, are enabling proactive asset condition monitoring, optimised performance, and improved decision-making across Ausgrid’s $18 billion asset base.

The session featured real-world case studies from Ausgrid’s Network Digitisation Program, illustrating how digital twins are contributing to cost savings, enhanced reliability, and extended asset lifecycles. Attendees left with valuable insights into how this technology can be applied across the asset management lifecycle to deliver tangible benefits for organisations and their stakeholders.
