Aircraft Safety Stands

Defence force maintenance crews often require additional requirements to ensure a safe working environment.

Recently, Victorian-based small business, Air Fab, was awarded a $1.3 million contract1 with Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) to design, fabricate and supply aircraft safety stands for maintenance procedures performed on ADF assets such as the F/A 18F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growler.

The safety stands to be designed and manufactured by Air Fab will be used by maintenance crews and will provide enhanced fall protection for workers when conducting maintenance on top of and around the aircraft.

Maintenance procedures must follow strict requirements in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), as outlined in the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) and all maintenance organisations must align with these regulations.
