The AMCouncil is delighted to announce that Noel Collins has taken over as the Power in Asset Management (PiAM) special interest group (SIG) Chair. The AMCouncil would like to extend its sincere thanks to Wendy McPate, outgoing PiAM Chair, for her time and efforts in establishing this SIG, and her timeless contribution to developing it over the last couple of years.
Victoria’s infrastructure strategy 2021–2051 was presented to the Victorian Parliament on Thursday 19 August for tabling. The updated strategy builds on the work of the first cross-sectoral infrastructure strategy delivered in 2016, and presents a vision for a thriving, inclusive and sustainable Victoria over the next 30 years. It contains 94 recommendations for projects, policies, and reforms, spanning many types of infrastructure. They are based on extensive evidence, research and consultation and informed by innovative land use and transport modelling. On 19th August 2021, VAGO tabled their findings to their audit on Major Infrastructure Program Delivery Capability. Victoria’s major projects pipeline has expanded dramatically since 2016, particularly for transport projects. Coinciding with this, the infrastructure boom on Australia’s east coast has led to competition for workers and material resources. “To deliver projects cost-effectively and on time, public sector agencies need to identify resource gaps and strategically address any shortages.

Two Guardian Pass patrol boats were simultaneously launched at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson, WA.
The Australian Marine Complex leads the world in the construction of high speed, lightweight vessels. The maritime precinct, where the two Guardian Pass patrol boats were launched, is approximately 35 hectares in area, and is home to five primary shipbuilders1. Austal, a global defence prime contractor, has designed and built the Patrol Class for the Commonwealth of Australia2.
