The Canberra Chapter of the AMC held our 2018 AGM and a presentation on the evening of the 22nd March at Engineering House in Canberra. This is a wonderful venue for presentations and the Engineers Australia staff, as usual do everything they can to make the evening run like clockwork.
After a get together session over tea and coffee, it was down to business in the main auditorium. The presentation was about Asset Management Systems in Asset Intensive Industries, and with a total of 17 attendees from universities, defence, electricity distribution and consulting engineers, there was plenty of input from the audience, making for an interesting evening.

Wednesday, March 21st, saw the Brisbane chapter host a technical seminar on the subject of Digital Engineering. A well attended evening seminar saw Ian Hardcastle (Digital Engineering Practice Director from Jacobs) present his observations and thoughts on the evolution of Building Information Modelling (BIM) into DE, and how the value of digital information can be created and also eroded.

The State Infrastructure Strategy (SIS) is a 20-year infrastructure investment plan for the NSW Government that places strategic fit and economic merit at the centre of investment decisions. The Strategy assesses infrastructure problems and solutions, and provides recommendations to best grow the State’s economy, enhance productivity and improve living standards for our NSW community. It is updated every five years, the latest of which is now out and makes good reading. You can view it here.
