The Asset Journal Volume 8 Issue 4
Welcome to Issue 4, Volume 8 of The Asset Journal – the official publication of the Asset Management Council.
This issue is focussed on industry and alliance. We present papers from Canada, Philippines and Australia on using asset management to transform culture, using modern maintenance techniques for heritage vehicles, and improving system reliability via synergising methodology and technology.
This issue also contains material on the globally recognised Certified Asset Management Assessor program, as well as results from the second wave of the stakeholder survey.

Have you ever looked out of an aircraft window and wondered if Qantas keep a spare engine at the location you just left, or how many engines an aircraft must have to fly 5 hours over water? Have you ever wondered how the internals of a jet engine actually works or how the pilots, maintenance technicians and cabin crew are trained? Have you ever attended a technical presentation in the back of a Boeing 737 aircraft or walked around an aircraft maintenance facility?
Well those who came to the Technical Session held at the AeroSpace Training Facility at Jandakot did just that and have a little more insight into the answers to these questions than when they last flew.

The fantastic outcome of the CAMA Exam has unequivocally confirmed the power of Asset Management Council Chapters and Member involvement, and global team unity!
Engagement by the Asset Management Council Technical Team with Chapters throughout Australia and New Zealand for their input – as well as PEMAC – secured 44 experienced and diverse AM practitioners from the mining, utilities, Defence, aviation, infrastructure and consulting sectors; five teams delivered critical questions that now comprise the CAMA Exam. Questions showing diversity in exploration of the process of information extraction; diversification and depth of knowledge and understanding required to deliver appropriate responses and demonstrate capabilities.
