Adelaide – Digital Assets in the Built Environment: From Strategy to Operational Intelligence

Digital assets are not handover deliverables; they are information capabilities that must be designed from the outset. This presentation from Rebecca De Cicco FCIOB, Director of Built Digital SA, and Founder & Global Chair of Women in BIM examines how an intelligent asset owner can set a digital and information strategy early, align requirements with ISO 19650, and translate them into procurement and contracts so appointed parties clearly understand their obligations. It explores how compliance can be monitored throughout design and delivery using information requirements, responsibility matrices, common data environments, assurance gates and measurable acceptance criteria. Finally, it considers the operational capability required to keep asset information current after handover – including governance, competent people, defined update processes and connected digital systems. Rebecca De Cicco FCIOB is a Digital Transformation Specialist with more than two decades of international experience across BIM, Digital Engineering and Information Management. Beginning her career in architecture in Australia, she has held senior digital leadership roles in Australia and the UK, advising asset owners, government and project teams on ISO 19650, information requirements, governance, digital delivery and capability uplift. Rebecca is Director of Built Digital SA and Founder & Global Chair of Women in BIM. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and an international industry speaker.
