Barry Billings, Transfield Services

Transfield Services is a global provider of a wide range of services to a broad customer base. It recently faced the challenge of having to deliver generic technical asset management improvements for its Infrastructure group while ensuring a usable platform was also delivered for the entire global asset management business. Barry Billings was the business lead for this project. Barry will outline the approaches used and lessons learnt from developing an integrated SAP/ ESRI GIS mobility solution and talk through the areas of people, process and technology. He will also discuss a fresh approach to defining user requirements, aligning the solution to a customer focused process model, realising the ‘real’ value of data and the importance of change management.

Barry Billings has 25 years experience in a range of infrastructure industries providing management, engineering, technical support across a broad range of business areas including maintenance, project management, asset management and continuous improvement.  In his current role as Transfield Services Business Improvement Manager – Infrastructure, Barry is responsible for identifying and implementing improvement strategies in the areas of business processes, systems and asset management across the infrastructure business.  Barry’s role allows him to leverage his years of field experience, asset management process, technical, systems and managerial experiences to provide unique insight into improvement projects and strategies.  Barry has been instrumental at Transfield Services in creating opportunities for field workers to directly influence Asset Management through development of practical systems and process for improved asset life.  Barry has also driven an open approach into the systems he has developed allowing transparency of information and ease of access to the asset owner and improving customer satisfaction.
