Protection equipment sits silently in the background until required to operate and clear faults from the transmission system. Traditional maintenance practices allow for protection equipment to be replaced after failure or on age, however within acceptable timeframes although, as the equipment ages, support from the manufacturer ceases and spare parts diminish. Calculating the value of risk of protection failure allows risk costs to be included in economic analysis enabling a more accurate method of renewal justification.
Mo Barghash, AM Council, Projects Manager
An introduction to the Asset Management Council, with details on AMBoK, AMPEAK2015 and membership. Mo will also discuss the Asset Management Council’s new joint venture to form the ISO assessor’s exam.
