The Asset Management Council Perth Chapter recently hosted Women Creating Value: Aligned and Assured Leadership in Asset Management, bringing together a strong and engaged audience for an evening of practical insight, honest discussion and shared professional experience.
The event featured a panel of women working across asset-intensive sectors, each offering a distinct perspective on leadership, value creation, sustainability, inclusion, technology and organisational change.
Speakers included:
- Natalia Bustamante, Hancock Iron Ore
- Daniela Rivas-Aybar, PhD, Clear Carbon
- Shereya Parashar, Woodside Energy
- Jacinta Barnett GAICD, Rio Tinto
- Dr Eunice Sari, Western AI Hub
Together, the speakers explored what it takes to lead effectively in complex asset environments. Themes included the importance of building trust before driving change, aligning sustainability ambitions across teams and disciplines, creating a genuine sense of belonging, making decisions in uncertain environments, and ensuring that technology adoption is supported by people, process and governance.
A key thread throughout the evening was that leadership in asset management is not only technical. It also requires communication, alignment, courage, inclusion and the ability to bring people together around shared outcomes.
The discussion that followed was open, thoughtful and highly engaged, with attendees contributing questions and reflections from their own workplaces and sectors. The conversation highlighted the value of creating spaces where practitioners can speak honestly about the realities of leading assets, teams and change.
The Asset Management Council extends its thanks to the Perth Chapter Chair, Karina Machado, and Neen Barry for leading the event, along with the Perth Chapter committee and volunteers who helped bring the evening together.
We also thank all speakers for generously sharing their experience and insights, and all attendees who contributed to such a valuable and energetic discussion.
Photos from the evening capture the strong sense of connection, participation and professional exchange in the room.
