Critical Infrastructure Management within your Asset Management Program

Last night saw the Canberra Chapter host it’s first event of the year where delegates gathered to learn about how updates to the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act have brought more infrastructure systems within the purview of the legislation.  In his presentation, AMCouncil Canberra Chapter Chair Wayne Francisco talked to how the protection of Critical Infrastructure can be aligned within an Asset Management Program with reference to the GFMAM Asset Management Landscape Subjects.

Policies to Transition to a Circular Economy

According to a World Bank report released on 6th December 2022 entitled “ Squaring the Circle: Policies for a transition to a circular economy in Europe” today’s global economy consumes more than 100 billion tons of raw materials each year, while approximately 90 billion tons of materials are disposed of as waste. The number of new merchandise mobilized between 2000 and 2015 is already equivalent to more than half of the number of sales promotions between 1900 and 2000 with Global demand for new commodities expected to at least double again by 2050.

The Circularity Gap Report 2023 Released

A report released in Jan23 entitled “ The Circularity Gap Report”

  • examines the global issue of rising material extraction and use
  • outlines how with a circular economy we can fulfil peoples needs for materials within the safe limits of the planet
  • points out how to use less, use longer, use again and make clean circular  solutions for four of the global systems (food systems, built environment, mobility and transport,  manufactured goods and consumables)
  • how purpose drive collaboration between public and provide sector can be used to scale the transition to a circular economy
  • acknowledging that differences in approaches from each country are expected to meet the shared global foal of reversing environmental overshoot whilst meeting needs of people.
