Thursday saw the last Technical seminar for 2019 for the Brisbane Chapter, the session was focused on the heart of any Asset management System, and that is the people. With two eminent speakers in Dr Monique Beedles and Yvonne Pengilly, the audience were provided with many thought provoking points ranging from career development and competencies to the requirements of being a register Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and the associated interaction with Asset Management activities. The opportunity was also taken to outline the AMCouncil strategy for 2020-2023.

Our New Zealand neighbours held a half-day forum, co-sponsored by AM Council and Unison, on driving asset management performance improvement on the afternoon of the 31st October. Topics included: Change management strategy to implement ISO 55001; One year beyond ISO55001, digital strategy; Lessons learnt by Transpower, Asset management and PAS 55; and evolving asset management.

Deeksha Sumanth the NSW Women in Asset management Representative (WiAM) ran a WiAM led event for the Sydney Chapter on the 17 October 2019. A very well attended event with an expert panel discussing ‘What does an Asset management Leader look like?’ Deeksha described the WiAM interest group and certainly encouraged further participation form Sydney’s attending members.
