Asset Management Accountability Framework: Lessons to Date
The Melbourne chapter recently hosted a group of fifty people interested in sharing experiences with the implementation of the Victorian State government’s Asset Management Accountability Framework. With guest speakers from the emergency services sector and additional commentary from attendees, the session was constructive and highly informative.
The second part of the evening was devoted to an introduction to the CAMA examination and a call to arms for Melbourne chapter members to participate in the re-development of the exam questions. Sally Nugent, from World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM) explained the structure and approach for development of the existing question set and set the scene for a workshop on 12th October for Melbourne chapter members to contribute new questions for the CAMA question bank.

The 19th September saw the Asset Management Council’s very own Mark Mackenzie, a highly qualified and experienced engineer with over thirty years’ experience in maintenance, reliability and asset manaagement, present tips and tricks for reliability practioners to a group in Adelaide. Mark asked and answered thought-provoking questions questions such as: Why should we measure reliability and what are the benefits? How should reliability be demonstrated? How should we specify reliability requirements? And, how should we use reliability to focus effort?
A special late afternoon, technical discussion for the AMCouncil New Zealand was held on Monday 21st August 2017 to an enthusiastic group in Auckland. The topic of discussion was financial models for long term asset management planning.
The Melbourne Chapter’s August technical session was focussed on capability development in asset management. Sandy Dunn, AMC member from the Perth Chapter and Managing Director of Assetivity, presented a range of views on the subject and generated a lot of interest. More than forty people attended the session at Engineering Australia’s Melbourne facilities.
