Canberra’s Engineering House hosted a packed audience on Thursday evening 24th May, where the Canberra Chapter of the AMC held a joint presentation with the Electric Energy Society of Australia to discuss the future of Australia’s Electricity Supply as laid out in the Finkel Plan.
It was a full house for Perth last Thursday as the Chapter collaborated with Curtin University for an informative technical event. First up was Andrei Ezergailis, ASC Pty Ltd’s CCSM LifCycle Manager, to go over ASC’s journey to ISO55001’s certification and the lessons learned from it. Next was Curtin’s very own senior research fellow from their Faculty of Science and Engineering, Katerina Lepkova, to address the latest developments in corrosion protection measures.
Sydney chapter members enjoyed hearing some detailed insights last night, 17 May, into the application of Asset Management to the power distribution industry during a presentation by Murray Chandler – Ausgrid’s Head of Asset Management Strategy, Performance & Innovation.
Wednesday, 16th May, saw the Brisbane chapter host their latest technical session. The theme of the event was asset management within the power sector. The speakers were Ravi Malik from Origin Energy, Brian McMahon from Energy Queensland and Michael Pelevin from Powerlink.
It was a full house on the 27th September 2017 for Brisbane’s latest technical chapter event on Asset Management systemimplementation: determining key assets. Asset Management depends upon the determination of key asset requirements in order to provide effective and efficient methods to avoid catastrophic failure or expensive rework to meet those requirements. How do practitioners effectively manage assets which are very complex or where they may be reaching their economic life when an error has the potential to cause significant loss of life and/or negative publicity?
This question was put to the audience during the latest 20th September Sydney chapter event and you can see the what they came up with in the word-cloud attached to this post. This was just the start of an open discussion, full of tangible examples of and ideas for value improvement for stakeholders through asset management, which centred around core elements from the ISO 5500x global standards suite for Asset Management – leadership, planning, support and operation.
The introductory talk from Kevin Young, CEO of Sydney Water, proved very interesting as he spoke about what he has found in his look at overseas utilities and how that is shaping his views on the customer-centric approach to Asset Management at Sydney Water.
