Australian Defence Force – Space Division

The Royal Australian Air Force will establish a Space Division, with the federal government investing $7 billion1 into space capability. The continued research into space domain awareness builds on our nation’s relationships with the United States and other key partners. It is expected that the Space Division will be launched in early 2022.

New asset powers the town of Mallacoota

AusNet Services recently installed Gippsland’s first community battery, powering the township of Mallacoota through a grid-connected energy storage system within its network.

The Mallacoota Area Grid Storage (MAGS) is a $7.5 million1 project aimed to greatly improve power reliability in the town. The project involves creating new energy facility including assets such as a large-scale battery, generator and associated equipment.

Net Zero Emission by 2050 for Jemena

Leading energy and infrastructure company, Jemena has announced its aim to achieve zero net emissions by 2050. Jemena is already working on initiatives such as the Western Sydney Green Gas project which will produce hydrogen for use in residential, storage and transport settings in late 2021.

Gas for eastern Australia

The Gippsland Basin Joint Venture West Barracouta project is up and running, delivering gas to eastern Australia.

The largest proven yet undeveloped gas field off the coast of south-eastern Australia received a $400 million investment1 and will now curb the potential gas shortage that had been projected for the eastern states as early as two years from now.
