ISO5500:2014 & ISO55001:2014 Review – Call for EOI for Reviewers

call for eoiThe AM Council is seeking expressions of interest from its membership for suitably experienced persons to join an enthusiastic team to review both ISO55000:2014 & ISO55001:2014.  Comments received from this review will be submitted via MB-19 (Australian Mirror committee for TC251) to TC251. Comments are intended to provide guidance to whether either standard requires change.

Quality Data – It Matters!

Quality DataData has changed the world. How we live our lives, and certainly how we work. In asset management, there is no doubt that data can transform maintenance practices, extend the life of an asset, and through these features alone can bring in greater value for the enterprise. A quick internet search will show many articles and webpages devoted to highlighting the amount of data businesses have at their fingertips. The prevalence of big data has helped us all understand the three Vs: velocity, volume, and variety. What it hasn’t done is help us to understand the importance f quality data, nor how to ensure the data our business is leveraging is in fact to be trusted.

The Importance of Maintenance – Learnings from the Dreamworld Inquest

In February 2020, the coronial inquest findings into the tragedy on Dreamworld’s Thunder River Rapids Ride (TRRR) were released to the public. Around that time, the Asset Management Council published a short precis of the report, which, if you’re interested, can be found here. The coroner’s findings highlights the crucial role maintenance plays in asset management and the overall landscape of a business.

In this post, we’ll pull out some learnings on the importance of maintenance, based on the findings in the report (in no particular order).

Defence Perspective of Product Management and ISO 55000

The Asset Management Council’s recent virtual defence summit, held in late July, was a huge success. Delegates were able to hear of the common issues that need to be addressed within the sector and thereby create an open forum of collaboration in order to successfully implement strategic and useful asset management practices.
