Predictive maintenance (or prognostics) is critical to any engineering systems to avoid system breakdown, in particular, for complex systems. With the recent advances on pervasive computing, prognostics can be easily embedded in any devices and systems.
An organization’s maintenance strategy may consist of many thousands, even tens or hundreds of thousands of preventive maintenance activities. These activities, properly executed, determine the success of the preventive maintenance program.
This paper discribes how implementing a system of scheduled mechanical maintenance for a production operation is not ground breaking in terms of maintenance improvement, just logical.
