Ivica Ninic last week presented an introduction to Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and how it relates to asset management. He discussed the purpose of PHA and provided a brief overview of the key tools used to analyse process hazards. He also took us through a practical application of hazard analysis to ensure the safe and prolonged operation of assets.

You’re thirsty. You grab a glass of water and turn on the tap. Fresh, clean water runs from the tap into your glass. You skoll the water; your thirst is quenched. You may even sigh at the relief, or fill your glass again.
This happens incalculable times a day across the country. At workplaces, homes, hospitals and healthcare centres, in the city and regional centres. It happens so frequently, the vast majority of us give no further thought to the work that goes on behind the scenes, in the pipes and water towers, to ensure that our water is clean, drinkable and safe from bacteria.

Imagine the sky filled with drones, all of them targeting numerous individuals at once.

At the Technology in Government conference, held in early August in Canberra, attendees learned more about cyber security in government. In particular, David Cullen, Principal Advisor of Cyber Incidents and Emergency Management at Department of Premier and Cabinet, Victoria, spoke of the alarming number of incidents in Victoria alone.
