State of the Assets Report 2018
November saw the release of the ALGA’s 2018 National State of the Assets Report. It is reported that $30 billion is required to renew and replace ageing infrastructure that is needed now.
Capacity of infrastructure was also reported. Capacity is linked to productivity and productivity is a major focus in infrastructure investment. Councils estimate $24 billion of current infrastructure value has poor capacity over the approximate $426 billion estimated portfolio of council infrastructure fixed and land assets. The AMCouncil dropped by Trade Victoria office recently to meet with representatives from BANOBRAS. This included Mr Esau Garza, Trade Commissioner; Mr Alejandro Blasco, Head of Investor Relations; and Mr Luis Ampudia, Vice President of Investor Relations from Mexico who walked through the Mexican Government’s newly developed Infrastructure investment tool which is a good reference to explore potential usiness opportunities in Mexico.
What a great turnout at Perth’s latest chapter event with AMCouncil members from all over the country coming together to hear from Ian Sedgwick as he shared his knowledge and approach to Asset Management, focusing on the importance of balancing key elements within Asset Management. The second part of an evening proved more of a celebration of 2018. Congratulations to Tristan Velnoweth, who won the quiz and brought home the title ‘WA Asset Management Guru of the Year’.
