Highlighting the M&R Trends for 2020

  • Carlos Gamez
  • Head of Asset Performance, Western Power
  • 09:00 am - 09:30 AM
In this highly competitive global market, it becomes imperative the focus of maintenance and reliability optimisation is on meeting the intent of the owners/investors. This presentation will aim to evaluate the biggest trends effecting M&R, from cost reduction and capacity optimisation to increases in safety, environmental impact & compliance, plus their emerging places within a business's corporate strategy.

10 Best Practices in Reliability Information Management in 2020

  • Dr Yvonne Power
  • Practice Lead – AM Technology, AM Centre of Excellence, Rio Tinto Growth & Innovation
  • 09:30 am - 10:00 AM
Many businesses underestimate the strategic benefits that maintenance and reliability can bring and the importance of optimising maintenance management as part of an organisation’s corporate strategy. With changing market conditions, companies need to address reliability information management as a strategic priority to maintain their competitive position, to shift maintenance away from un-scheduled outages to optimised planned outages, thereby improving overall reliability and thus profitability. This talk will highlight effective reliability information management through an Intelligent Asset Management framework focused on harnessing data, application of appropriate quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and presenting information in simple and effective ways to support evidence-based decision making from operations to executive level.

OPERATIONAL CASE STUDIES

Understanding Risk and Asset Assessment Processes for WTP Aeration Assets – Control of Legionella

  • Ian Bradley
  • Principal – Asset Capability, Water Corporation
  • 11:00 am - 11:30 AM
In 2014, the Water Corp instigated the 'Legionella High Level Risk Assessment Initiative' (LHLRAI), a prioritised work plan to capture cooling tower assets subject to AS3666.1-4 and Dept. of Health WA requirements for assessing Legionella risk (Code Of Practice, 2014). As part of this initiative, other 'aeration' type assets such as plate aerators and spray basins were also assessed and outcomes compared with compliance against national and available industry best practice. Aeration is typically part of the primary or first treatment step in water treatment. Prior to the initiative, treatment efficacy in the context of the level of Legionella challenge was simply not known. This presentation will explain the background driving the need to understand the growth of Legionella within treatment processes across the organisation.
