On the afternoon of 21 October, the delegation visited Shandong Port Qingdao Port and toured its fully automated container terminal, hosted by equipment management staff of the Engineering and Technology Department.
In commercial operation since 2017 and running around the clock, the terminal combines automated quay cranes, automated guided vehicles, container-lock robots, unmanned gates and automated yard cranes, with integrated planning and real-time data optimising equipment movements and vessel operations. It also uses solar, wind and hydrogen energy technologies. Delegates heard that Qingdao Port achieved ISO 55001 asset management system certification in 2024.
Discussion covered maintenance strategy when equipment is so heavily utilised that maintenance windows are very short, asset management where heavy machinery, power, controls and terminal software run as one system, and the move towards predictive maintenance and a central asset management system.
“A very impressive automated port system,” said Immediate Past National Chair Toby Horstead. “Running around the clock to realise port capacity at this level of efficiency, while keeping the equipment in top condition, is an excellent example of asset management in action.”

澳大利亚资产管理委员会代表团访问青岛港自动化码头
2026年10月21日下午，澳大利亚资产管理委员会代表团访问山东港口青岛港，参观全自动化集装箱码头，工程技术部设备主管人员等接待代表团一行。
全自动化集装箱码头于2017年投入商业运营，全天候运行，由自动化岸桥、自动导引车、拆装锁扣机器人、无人化闸口和自动化轨道吊等组成作业系统，通过一体化计划调度和实时数据优化设备运行和船舶装卸。码头还广泛应用光伏、风能和氢能等清洁能源技术。代表团了解到，青岛港已于2024年通过ISO 55001资产管理体系认证。
交流中，代表团成员就高强度运行条件下极短维护窗口内的设备维护策略、大型机械与电力、控制系统和码头软件一体化运行条件下的资产管理，以及向预测性维护和集中资产管理系统发展的方向进行了探讨。
委员会前任全国主席托比·霍斯特德表示：“这是一套令人印象深刻的自动化港口系统。码头全天候高效运转，充分释放港口通过能力，同时保持设备的良好状态，为资产管理提供了一个出色的范例。”
