It seems commonplace to read about a cyberattack, or at least the threat of one, on our systems, products and services. With the increase in big data held by governments and businesses, and the upsurge in the internet of things, it would appear that the threat environment evolves too quickly for protection methods to keep up.
Don’t despair though. Keeping Australia safe and maintaining confidence from the wider community is high on the federal government’s agenda.

Today, as I write this article, it is the 11th November; a day where we commemorate the end of four years of continuous warfare in WWI.
As the young men went off to war, everyone believed it would be only a matter of weeks, perhaps months, before they all returned home. How misguided they all were. The horrors those men saw, the horrors they performed, were all in the name of freedom, to keep our country safe. And they did it with a sense of patriotism and upholding the right. The First World War brought together over 70 million people, and ended the lives of between 9 and 13 million, many of them buried in unknown graves1.

Parks Victoria manages more than 28,000 assets, including facilities such as toilet blocks, parks and gardens, recreational spaces, playgrounds, piers and sporting grounds1.
Lately, there’s been a squabble over how one of Parks Victoria’s assets is being managed. What happens when there’s a dispute over managing assets? Who tells who what to do?

Fantastic news from NSW as Treasury publishes the NSW Government asset management policy, adopted by the NSW public sector on 31st October.
The Asset Management Council, led by our director Toby Horstead, has been working closely with Infrastructure NSW and the NSW Government AM Community of Practice to prepare agencies for the release of the policy.
