Sydney chapter had an excellent attendance of 49 to join in a panel discussion on “Digital Engineering in Asset Management” last Thursday.
The key theme of the discussion was exploring “Why aren’t we using DE for whole of life management of assets yet?”
An expert panel of practitioners was convened and chaired by Toby Horstead, NSW Lead – Strategic Asset Management, Jacobs and a Director on the Board of Asset Management Council. The panel members were:

A great attendence of approximately 45 at Sydney’s technical and networking session last week. It was noted that Mark Ragusa from Ausgrid has filled the remaining vacant committee membership position, and we welcome him on board.
The Chapter then heard from Lucio Favotto, Principal Manager Infrastructure and Fleet Services, Transport for NSW. Lucio provided an insightful presentation on the following – Asset Management across a multi-modal asset portfolio – Transport for NSW (TfNSW).

The Brisbane Chapter held a Technical session on the 21st March in conjunction with the Maintenance and Reliability Special interest Group. There were over 60 attendees present to listen to Mr Ian Sedgwick and Mr Ricardo Santos speaking about Dynamic lifecycle costing and Risk Based Inspection regimes respectively. This was followed by a Q and A Panel session which included the speakers and AMC board member, Dr Monique Beedles.

The first technical session of the New Zealand Chapter on large property portfolio asset management strategies drew a lot of attention from specialists in that sector. The affordability housing challenges in Auckland is not too different from the other cities such as Tauranga, Hamilton, Wellington, etc. Developing a holistic (systemic) asset management approach as outlined in the ISO 55000 standards has significantly helped resolve some of TRC challenges.

The Melbourne Chapter has had a great start to the year with over 30 keen AMCouncil members and associates who got together late February to discuss challenges in transforming culture and behaviour in asset centric organisations. A discussion was had led by Greg Williams, Executive, Executive Director Asset Performance, Yarra Trams, and Julian Watts, Director Engineering & Asset Management, KPMG.

Canberra chapter held a combined presentation and AGM on the evening of 21st February, with a total attendance of 16 members. Many thanks to Engineers Australia staff, who, as usual prepared the venue by separating a reception/catering area, and arranging seating and presentation aids in the auditorium.
