The Adelaide chapter recently got together to hear from Johan Aaserud, Asset Manager (Life Cycle Engineer) of the Collins Class Program, ASC where the audience was taken on a detailed voyage of his journey across the seas of Asset Management among the waves and peaks of practise, training and certification. Second up, was Neda Gorijan Jolfaie, a PhD Candidate at the University of Adelaide to speak on his project around an optimal asset life cycle decision support model.

The Brisbane Chapter held a planning session on the 25th October to identify the topics for the technical sessions that will be held in 2019. This session was a lively interactive session with 15 participants. They took a fresh look at the technical sessions, with a view as to what was wanted from the sessions, what specific subjects rewash were of interest and what site visits might appeal to the members.

The first presentation from Perth’s latest rail themed technical event was well received with the unanimous opinion that the presenter, Kyle Saltmarsh, delivered a technical presentation on ‘Acoustic Condition Monitoring’ in a manner that was engaging, entertaining and easy to understand.

The Melbourne chapter held a session at Engineers Australia’s city facilities, focused on the evolution of asset management in defence. John West, Asset Management Principal at BAE Systems, talked about linkages between defence capability and asset management, drawing on examples from the maritime defence sector. The enthusiastic audience included AMC members from government, defence and consulting.
