Armoured Vehicles Support

The Australian Army is powering ahead with infrastructure on site at defence bases.

The new facilities to be built at Puckapunyal, Lavarack Barracks and Edinburgh Defence Precinct will strengthen the ADF’s maintenance of its fleet of armoured vehicles. The next generation of fighting vehicles including the Projects Land 400, Land 907 Phase 2, and Land 8160 Phase 1 over the next thirty years.

Aircraft Safety Stands

Defence force maintenance crews often require additional requirements to ensure a safe working environment.

Recently, Victorian-based small business, Air Fab, was awarded a $1.3 million contract1 with Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) to design, fabricate and supply aircraft safety stands for maintenance procedures performed on ADF assets such as the F/A 18F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growler.

Partnerships at Sea

PartnershipsTwo of the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Anzac class frigates have been busy at sea during the pandemic.

HMAS Arunta and HMAS Stuart were involved in the Regional Presence Deployment 20201 that demonstrates our nation’s commitment to partnerships with our regional nations. During the deployment, vessels conduct maritime manoeuvres and communication skills that provide enactment scenarios for personnel as well as give opportunity to build and sustain relationships with our partners in defence.

Homemade UAVs for Defence

UAVsBoeing Australia’s Loyal Wingman UAV has been on the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) radar since May 2020.

The aircraft uses artificial intelligence to extend capabilities, and it’s the first to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in 50 years. The UAV was engineered using a digital twin to model its structures, systems and full lifecycle requirements and manufactured with the largest resin-infused single composite piece1.

Advanced Anti-Submarine Warfare Capability

Defence Perspective of Product Management and ISO 55000

The Asset Management Council’s recent virtual defence summit, held in late July, was a huge success. Delegates were able to hear of the common issues that need to be addressed within the sector and thereby create an open forum of collaboration in order to successfully implement strategic and useful asset management practices.
