On the 18th October 2018, the NSW Women in Asset Management (WiAM) Special Interest Group hosted its second Sydney Chapter event; Miriam Stacy (Place Management, Property NSW) gave a thoroughly absorbing presentation on the role she and her team plays in repurposing heritage-listed property assets in The Rocks area of Sydney.
We hope all the mentors and mentees in our Women in Transport Asset Management Mentoring Program had a great day on Saturday with it being International Mentoring Day! Since our pilot program is focused around progressing Women in the Transport space, we thought it apt to revisit a webinar the AMCouncil’s special interest group, Women in Asset Management (WiAM), hosted last year.

The Asset Management Council is proud to have Broadspectrum as a partnering organisation and we are delighted to hear that they have teamed up with Reconciliation Australia to recently launch their fourth Reconciliation Action Plan. As Andrea Kelly, Reconciliation Australia’s Deputy Chief Exective Officer, is quoted in the related press release: “Broadspectrum has been helping to blaze the trail for reconciliation for almost ten years. The first presentation from Perth’s latest rail themed technical event was well received with the unanimous opinion that the presenter, Kyle Saltmarsh, delivered a technical presentation on ‘Acoustic Condition Monitoring’ in a manner that was engaging, entertaining and easy to understand.
The Melbourne chapter held a session at Engineers Australia’s city facilities, focused on the evolution of asset management in defence. John West, Asset Management Principal at BAE Systems, talked about linkages between defence capability and asset management, drawing on examples from the maritime defence sector. The enthusiastic audience included AMC members from government, defence and consulting.
