Dr. Indra Gunawan, current chair of the Gippsland chapter and a Coordinator for Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Programs in the School of Applied Sciences and Engineering at Monash University, will make a presentation on the review of scheduling techniques for asset management.

Scheduling techniques such as Critical Path Method (CPM), Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) and Gantt chart have been used extensively in industries including in the scheduling of asset management.  In this presentation, characteristics of each scheduling technique are discussed along with the introduction of a new way of managing the scheduling in asset management, called Design Structure Matrix (DSM) technique.  Layout, interpretation, and data types that can be managed by DSM are discussed in details.  A case study of the DSM implementation will be presented.

His paper, titled ‘Review on Scheduling Techniques for Asset Management’, can be found in the current edition of The Asset Journal, released 31 August 2011.
