Managing Assets – Managing Mindsets, by Wayne Bisset,Reliability Engineer – OPEX, Arrium Mining and Materials

About the Presentation

Arrium have a number of current initiatives for managing asset risk and condition, all of which involve some degree of managing and influencing the mindsets of our people and our management.

Wayne’s presentation will provide an overview of these initiatives with reference to some key asset case studies that demonstrate the importance of mindsets in implementing asset management systems.

About the Presenter

Wayne initially spent ten years in steel manufacturing in Newcastle completing an engineering cadetship and project managing the design, construction and upgrading of several tube manufacturing mills.

He spent the next 25 years in Power and Mining industry roles as a Maintenance Leader and then Reliability Consultant working across Australia and Asia. This included time as General Manager with Pacific Power International and Asia-Pacific Power Generation Manager for Pall Corporation. Wayne returned to steel manufacturing when he joined OneSteel as the OPEX Reliability Manager in 2005.

He has broad knowledge and experience in all aspects of Asset and Reliability Management but his real passion is lubrication, tribology and oil analysis. Wayne has been one of the architects of the OneSteel Condition Management program including the initiation of the OneCare asset condition reporting system. He has recently been involved in special projects including development of the OneSteel Operating System and a 6 month secondment to AltaSteel in Edmonton, Canada.
