Maintainer of the Future

Professor Melinda Hodkiewicz, head of the Engineering Asset Management (EAM) Program at the UWA

The Perth Chapter invite you to their next Technical Seminar, Friday 15th November – Space is limited so please book early to ensure participation.

The Presentation

In the last two decades due to process control, remote operations systems and development of autonomous assets; we have seen significant changes in how assets are operated and in the duties of operators. However the day to day work of maintenance technicians engaged in the resources and infrastructure sectors has changed little. This AMC-WA workshop will engage attendees to ask four questions.
• How do we expect asset design, technical support equipment and organizational processes to change in the next 15 years?
• How will this affect the role of maintainers and their day to day tasks?
• What competences will the maintainer of the future need to have?
• How do these competences compare with those of the maintainers today and where are the major gaps?

The workshop will involve group work and discussions to identify answers to these questions. The data will be compiled and distributed to attendees by the facilitator Professor Melinda Hodkiewicz from UWA. One aim is to produce a paper for the AMPEAK Asset Management Conference Perth 2014, the other aim is to provide a springboard to anticipate and plan for change. Please come along, network with your peers from across the resource and infrastructure sectors and be part of this important discussion.
