The Melbourne Chapter in conjunction with the Risk Engineering Society invite you to the next Technical Session, Tuesday 1st October.
A case study of a site in Swan St Richmond.
Benefits of Risk before Asset, by Mr Sam Ortisis, Director Asset Management – Risk and Compliance, ACOM Management Consultants Pty Ltd
About the Presentation
In this meeting Mr Sam Ortisi will share his account of how his team applied detailed risk assessment for a totally new major asset building in Richmond. In the past Sam has been a senior engineer within GHD, SKM and others companies. Sam currently works ACOM Management Consultants Pty Ltd as Director Asset Management – Risk and Compliance. Sam was the project manager leading this project and is going to give comment and insight of undertaking such a project that has pivoted around the use of risk for asset management.
It is a well-documented fact that management of risk starts with a design that is developed around the understanding of the use of the asset, through its asset life cycle and immediate environment. Designers have an obligation under the Victorian OH&S Act to ensure that all reasonable and practicable steps are taken to identify potential hazards, introduce risk mitigation measures to render such risks at an acceptable level and ensure that residual risks are communicated to the Client so that alternative measures are considered during the Contraction, Operating, Maintaining and rehabilitating stages.
This Case Study Today takes into consideration the potential risk posed by a neighbouring rail corridor to the proposed re-development of the Dimmeys Site in Swan Street Richmond. Further to this it has been requested to also consider the applicability of the impact loads specified in AS 5100.2 – 2004 Bridge Design; design loads Section 10 Collision Loads.
